The danger of lacking an inner dimension

I like what Koehler has to say here, but I'd amend it. I think what Bush' reign has shown is that a nation with no inner dimension is a danger. After all, the Americans who thought him a worthy candidate for president and those who still stick by his presidency do so, in large part, because our mindless consumer culture is hollow and dead.
What Bush's toxic reign has taught us is that a president with no inner dimension is a danger almost beyond calculation, considering the destructive power he commands, to his own people and to the world (and the world, of course, well knows this).
